Douala Cultural Center, William Wallace Memorial Library and Constancia Oliveira Turner Memorial Library (Frieda Ekotto) - Cameroon

Project Goal: $40,000

Current Progress: $15,075 (38.00%)

Constancia Oliveira Turner

Container Captain Frieda Ekotto's dream is to create a Cultural Center for young people in Cameroon. The project will establish the second William Wallace Memorial Library. It will also establish the Constancia Oliveira Turner Library, in memory of the Great Grandmother of Shantell Lanique Smith, with children's books set in Cameroon, books collected by Shantell's family, and Girls Empowerment Collections.

In addition to a flagship Cultural Center, this container will create mobile libraries to increase access to books. Books are extremely important to keep young minds at work in a country where there are not museums, parks and other activities for young people. Reading is essential to broadening their perspectives and fueling their potential.

Your support of this project will engage a child in discovering the world, and build bridges between the Francophone and Anglophone communities in Cameroon as we share ideas, art, dance, languages, computer skills and- of course- the books that your donations will sponsor.
