Books For Africa Shipment Lands in Nigeria, Distributed by Ovie of the Agbarha-Otor Kingdom
In fall of 2022, Books For Africa welcomed the Ovie (King) of Agbarha-Otor Kingdom (Urhoboland, Delta State, Nigeria), His Royal Majesty Richard Oghenevwogaga Ebelle Okorefe I, for a visit to its Saint Paul warehouse. The visit coincided with the start of a book drive by the Urhobo Progress Union, to get books and solar lamp to Delta State.
We’re pleased to announce that that shipment recently arrived and was presented to the king in a ceremony. The shipment included a range of text and library books as well as solar lamps, and was sponsored in part by the Margaret Rivers Fund, friends of the Ajuwe Agbarha-Otor book drive, and MSD.
Friend of Books For Africa Atare Agbamu thanked those involved, saying, "[...] we are grateful to our indispensable strategic partner, Books For Africa, the world's largest shipper of donated books to the African continent, for providing the books [...] and the critical logistics to get the books from the US to Nigeria."
He added: "These books will encourage reading, inspire young and older learners, and change lives for years."
The books will go to benefit schools and libraries in the kingdom. Check out the news video clip below or the video of the books' arrival and presentation ceremony, also below!
