Congresswoman Lucy McBath and Akwa Ibom State Government Delegation visit Books For Africa Warehouse
Books For Africa was honored to welcome a site visit to its warehouse facility on August 7th by Marietta Congresswoman Lucy McBath and representatives of the Akwa Ibom State Government (Nigeria). BFA staff, including Executive Director Pat Plonski, Warehouse Manager Brad Mattson, and board members Mike Essien, Nicky Mundabi, and Matilda Arhin, briefed Congresswoman McBath regarding BFA activities.
The BFA warehouse is located in Congresswoman McBath’s district in Marietta, Georgia. The group also briefed Congresswoman McBath regarding BFA participation in U.S. government programs including the USAID Ocean Freight Reimbursement Program and the Department of Defense Humanitarian Assistance Program.
BFA officials and Congresswoman McBath were also pleased to welcome the Akwa Ibom State delegation, led by H.E. Dr. Emanuel Efiong Ekuwem. Dr. Ekuwem conducted the site visit to BFA representing Akwa Ibom State Executive Governor Udom Emmanuel. Akwa Ibom State and BFA are exploring a partnership that would entail the shipment of up to 500,000 books valued at up to $4 million over the next 12 months.
BFA looks forward to working with Congresswoman McBath and with Akwa Ibom State to collaborate to ship more books to Africa.
