Latest BFA Shipment Brings Total Books Shipped to Zambezi Schoolbook Project to Over 1.4 Million
Books For Africa recently heard from its partner Children in the Wilderness (CITW), which worked on a container project to bring books to rural Zimbabwe. Since 2014, BFA has sent 25 40-foot sea containers to the Zambezi Schoolbook Project, with a total of over 1.4 million books donated.
With the latest shipment, a total of 35 pallets were shipped to it in two container shipments, but with the Covid-19 pandemic having closed many schools through March of 2021, the boxes of books had to be temporarily stored in Harare and gradually brought to Victoria Falls.
Recently distribution has resumed, and recently books were distributed to Mlevu and Mtshayeli primary schools in the Tsholotsho region, a remote region south of Hwange National Park. CITW reported that the teachers and students were excited about the delivery, and that they look forward to bringing them more books when they are able. CITW also looks forward to finishing distribution in other schools in Victoria Falls, Hwange, Tsholotsho and Beitbridge.
