St. Paul's Books For Africa Recognized with Four-star Rating from Charity Navigator for a Decade

St. Paul-based charity Books for Africa received its 10th consecutive four-star rating from Charity Navigator this week, a feat that is only accomplished by three percent of the charities reviewed.

The four-star rating is the highest possible and indicates the organization uses best practices and “executes its mission in a financially efficient way,” Charity Navigator President and CEO Michael Thatcher wrote to Patrick Plonski, executive director of Books For Africa. “This exceptional designation sets Books For Africa apart from its peers and demonstrates to the public its trustworthiness.”

Charity Navigator rates charities based on their fiscal management, accountability and transparency to help donors decide where to give their money. They have been in operation since 2001, and provide free access to data and resources on charities.

“Books For Africa is honored to be recognized for a decade of top ratings from Charity Navigator,” Plonski said in a statement. “This level of efficiency and financial transparency is exactly what our donors have come to expect from BFA, and we are pleased to continue to use their donations as efficiently as possible to get more books to the children and learners across the African continent.”
