BFA Ships Medical Books, Tablets, and Law Libraries to Nigeria in Partnership with Sir Emeka Offor Foundation
Last week, Books For Africa sent 10 containers of medical books, 20 MSD tablets, and 2 Thomson Reuters-ABA law libraries to Nigeria. This shipment was a partnership with the Sir Emeka Offor Foundation, and was sponsored by the Foundation itself and by MSD.
Local and international VIPs were in attendance at BFA’s warehouse in Marietta, Georgia, to see off the departure of the last containers in the shipment, which comprised 181,233 books. BFA staff and volunteers were joined by Chris Ezike, Chief of Staff at the Sir Emeka Offor Foundation; Mayowa Oluwatosin Alade, Special Advisor (Technical) to the Nigerian Minister of Health and Social Welfare; a representative from the Nigerian Consul General in Atlanta, Auwalu Jega Namadina; BFA Ambassadors Circle member Fotemah Mba and BFA Board Member Nicky Mundabi. The guests were enthusiastic about bringing these books to Nigerian students and professionals!
Tablets in the shipment were loaded with over 3,000 e-books, as well as the MSD medical apps, for use by medical students and practitioners. The tablets are also funded by BFA’s partnership with MSD.
This shipment is expected to arrive to the port of Onne, in Nigeria, on January 3. Following their arrival, the books will be distributed across Nigeria by the Sir Emeka Offor Foundation and the Nigerian Ministry of Health and Social Welfare.
