Books For Africa Ships Books out of London
Books For Africa recently achieved something completely new: shipped a container of books out of London to the African continent. With this shipment, London joins other cities around the world including Paris, Hong Kong, Barcelona, L.A. and Montreal as locations that have shipped containers for BFA projects.
These books are provided by Awesome Books and are being shipped to Our Lady of Grace Senior High School in Mamponteng, Ghana (pictured at right). But this multi-continent project also has local roots: Our Lady of Grace has a partner school in Minnesota, where BFA’s headquarters are located. Container Captain Kojo Amoo-Gottfried is also a BFA board member based in Minnesota.
One of the potential advantages of this new development is the ability to send books that are an excellent fit for curricula modeled after the British educational system and using British English. This helps BFA meet an even broader range of needs for its partner and beneficiary schools.
In addition to Our Lady of Grace, books from this shipment will also be distributed to primary and junior high schools in Mamponteng, Aboaso and Jamasi, and senior high schools in Aboaso, Bampenase and Kumasi. They will go to the libraries of the beneficiary schools for use by students and staff.
