Congratulations to the winner of the BFA Power of a Book Photo Contest!

Congratulations to the winner of the BFA Power of a Book Photo Contest!

The winning photograph was submitted by Meredith Davis.
The photo was taken by Esther Havens in a library in Kayonza, Rwanda. The school is funded by Africa New Life Ministries.

“Africa New Life Ministries' founder, Charles Buregeya, says "You can't change the world, but you can change the world for one." New Life Christian Academy was founded in Kayonza, Rwanda, in 2002. Through their sponsorship program, children who might not otherwise receive an education are able to attend school. The school consistently ranks in the top five schools in the country. Last year five of the top ten scholars in all of Rwanda were students from New Life Christian Academy, and yet the picture you see is the current extent of their library. Imagine what could be done with Books For Africa's resources and the excellent teaching and facilities being offered in Kayonza!”

The runner up was Janet Lee, of Senegat Foundation, with a photo from the Senegat Children and Youth Library in Mekelle, Ethiopia. “GIRL POWER!  Three girls formed an after-school study group to help others with homework assignments.  They realized that education is the key to success. “
