InAble and BFA Bring 22,000 Books to Kisumu Kenya
“Reading will help me travel the world without getting in an airplane.”
-Benjamin, a student in Kisumu, Karateng Kenya
By supporting BFA, you give people access to the endless adventures waiting for someone on the pages of a donated book.
Jean Adero, an American working with InAble in Kenya (formerly Our Reading Spaces), reminds us that, “As you drove to work this morning, you were probably thinking about all the tasks before you and wondering how you'd complete everything on your plate, or even whether some of the things on your to-do list matter. Here's a reason why you should know that they matter.”
There are some 10,000 primary and secondary school students in the Maseno/Karatang region of Kenya where Adero works. There are hardly enough books for all of the students in the classrooms. There are even fewer books for students to use outside of the school day. Until now.
A full container of books was delivered to Kisumu, Karateng, Kenya, to create the first community library in this region. Now students and community members have access to a huge variety of books and all of the places they will go while reading.
