Kenyan Ambassador visits BFA's St. Paul Warehouse

His Excellency Ambassador Robinson Njeru Githae, Kenyan Ambassador to the U.S., came to the Twin Cities, MN for official Madaraka Day celebrations with the Kenyan community in the state. He praised Books For Africa and its group of volunteers for the work they have done over the years in sending books to Kenya and Africa.

Ambassador Githae announced a donated container of books in memory of the late Mr. Ishmael Nyangau Gitaa, who was father to Mshale founder and Books For Africa past Board President, Tom Gitaa. The memorial container is funded by Minnesota Kenyan International Development Association (MKIDA) and Books For Africa, and will benefit over 22 schools in the counties of Nyamira and Kisii, Kenya.

“We are honored that MKIDA and BFA are thinking of my dad who loved education so much; there is no better way to honor him,” said Tom Gitaa as he accepted the donation on behalf of the Gitaa family.
