Northfield Rotary receives Kilimanjaro Award from Books For Africa
Northfield Rotary was presented with the 2024 Kilimanjaro Society Award from Books For Africa (BFA) “for advancing education in Africa.” Northfield Rotary sent 100,000 books — valued at $1.6 million — to South Sudan and raised an additional $43,000 in funds and support, which leveraged funding from the U.S. Department of Defense to assist in covering ocean freight cost. The shipment included large quantities of medical books from Merck, two law libraries from Thomson Reuters, and 11 computers loaded with 33,000 digital books. The prestigious Kilimanjaro Society Award recognizes a top donor to BFA every year.
