Sir Emeka Offor Meets with Books For Africa Director, Warehouse Staff
Books For Africa was pleased to host our Nigerian partner Sir Emeka Offor at our Georgia warehouse on October 1. During the visit, he inspected books and discussed strategy for the Sir Emeka Foundation’s project to ship 11 containers of books to Nigeria in the months ahead.
While touring the warehouse, he met with the Warehouse Manager and other staff. Also in attendance were BFA board member and former US Ambassador to Nigeria, Howard Jeter, former Atlanta-based BFA board member Fotemah Mba, and the head DJ from Atlanta’s #1 radio station was also in attendance. BFA board member Mike Essien also met with Sir Emeka and former United Nations Ambassador Andrew Young in Atlanta.
Immediately following the Atlanta visit, Sir Emeka met with BFA Executive Director Patrick Plonski in Washington, DC. During this meeting, Patrick presented Sir Emeka with a Merck tablet for health care providers in Nigeria, part of the initiative under BFA's partnership with Merck. Sir Emeka noted that the tablets would be very useful for medical professionals and inquired how to secure more of them.
Books For Africa and Sir Emeka Offor were also recognized at an African Union reception in Washington, DC, by African Union Ambassador to the United States HE Hilda Suka-Mafudze.
