UW-Stout donates over 12,500 textbooks to Books for Africa
UW-Stout is helping students halfway across the world gain a college education by donating more than 12,500 textbooks to Books for Africa.
Bob Butterfield, director of instructional resources services at UW-Stout, says the university has donated to Books for Africa for over 20 years, and has donated over half a million books to the organization. Some of the different subjects in the donated textbooks include literature, chemistry and computers.
"One of the big precepts at Stout is sustainability and really taking care of students," said Butterfield. "What we really hope to convey is that nothing goes to waste. We have worked with Books for Africa to make sure these old books have a new purpose."
Books for Africa officials estimate the textbooks will arrive in Africa within six months.
