Resources Enriching African Lives/REAL (Tsehai Wodajo) - Ethiopia

Project Goal: $11,000

Current Progress: $1,050 (10.00%)

This project is for both the Ethiopian girls' education and empowerment program, and the Ethiopian Supreme Court Law Books shipment initiative led by Resources Enriching African Lives/REAL (www.real-africa,org), REAL, established in 2004, celebrated its 20th anniversary on September 14th and had Honorable Judge Etment Assafa Asamrie as a special guest speaker. Books for Africa was among several organizations that sponsored the celebration. We are very thankful that the Books for African Thomson Reuters Law Books shipment initiative agreed to include Law Books shipment for the Federal Supreme Court of Ethiopia

Tsehai Wodajo, the Executive Director of REAL was a container captain in 2013, and 40ft container books were sent to all the nine REAL's girls' programs locations throughout Ethiopia, and the Nedjo Community Library. The books made a significant difference for REAL girls for the past eleven years. Last school year the national 12th-grade exam passing for the country was 5.5%, whereas for REAL girls it was 31%, and with remedial passing 51%. REAL wants to continue building on this success and would like to reach 35,000 girls, and all students in the schools where REAL girls attend. Included in this shipment, the Ethiopian Federal Supreme Court will receive its first Law Books made possible by Books for African Thomson Reuters initiative.

Please support this initiative to educate and empower Ethiopian girls, and provide Law Books to build the capacity of the Ethiopian Federal Supreme for the first time.
