2024 Mandela Fellows, Special Guests Recognized at BFA Warehouse Party

Books For Africa held its 2024 Minnesota Warehouse Party in July! BFA friends from near and far were in attendance to enjoy delicious food from Afro Deli, an array of beverages and of course, music by the world-famous Warehouse Band.

This year’s warehouse party hosted some very special guests: a delegation from Nigeria led by Dr. Onome Dema, Chief of Olumu Kingdom. She was accompanied by three other chiefs from the same region. Their visit was arranged by former BFA board member Atare Agbamu, and the delegation expressed interest in a shipment of books to their region.

Also in attendance was a group of Mandela Washington Fellows representing many different countries across Africa. They were invited to speak a little about their background and experience, and each one received an MSD-sponsored tablet pre-loaded with MSD medical manuals to distribute to a health care institute or professional in their country.

The Mandela Fellows had also visited the warehouse earlier that week to learn more about Books For Africa and help sort books for the Mandela Day of Service! Local news station KSTP was on scene to interview some of the Fellows and record their visit.
