In summer 2023, Books For Africa shipped a container of books to the Lowapi Study Centre in Botswana. Check out the arrival video and read about the incredible work they’ve been doing ever since!

Claude and Barbara Mayfield started a small books project in Zimbabwe in the 1990s when they retired from their textile business in South Africa. With the help of Books For Africa (BFA) and other nonprofits, the couple has sent two million books to over 60,000 students in rural Zimbabwe.

Earlier this year, Books For Africa partnered with Libraries for Kids International to execute a project funded by the Grand Circle Foundation, a long-time ally. Together, we sent a 40-foot container of books to Amboseli, Kenya.

Books For Africa recently sent a 10-container shipment of high-level books to Nigeria in partnership with the Sir Emeka Offor Foundation. VIPs were in attendance for the departure of the last containers.
