BFA was pleased to get some photos and feedback from a Girls Empowerment Collection that recently arrived in South Africa in the hands of Xoli Fuyani (pictured at left). We also heard from recipient Rethabile Sonibare, who let us know that the books are being distributed just in time for Women’s Month in South Africa!

Former Tanzanian President Benjamin Mpaka passed away on Friday, July 24. Not only was President Mpaka a one-time ambassador to the U.S. and a two-term leader from 1995 to 2005, he was also a friend and supporter of Books For Africa. We recently got good news from African Development University, who used a container of books to make their library collections one of the top well-stocked libraries in Niger!

Distribution is underway for a recent container shipment of 22,000 books in Kitwe, Zambia! Check out the video of restocking at the Buche Public Library, where the Mayor was in attendance.
