Mobilizing Diaspora Connections Conference in the Twin Cities and Abroad

This past weekend, Books For Africa partnered with the African Development Center (ADC) [http://www.adcminnesota.org/] to host the Mobilizing Diaspora Connections Conference. Connections within the African community in Minnesota make it possible to deliver services to those that need them the most. As the hosts of the conference, BFA and ADC wanted to celebrate the connections that are necessary to promote economic and community development both in the Twin Cities as well as in Africa.

22,000 Books to the Country of Your Choice!

Thanks to a very generous donation from BFA Board member and founder of Amara Wines, Bob Marx, you can bid to send a full container of books to a recipient in the African country of your choice. This is a onetime only silent auction hosted by BFA. The highest bidder will be able to send a full sea container of 22,000 books to a recipient in the African country of his or her choice. The starting minimum bid is $2,500. Interested parties may place their bid by emailing maggie@booksforafrica.org. Highest bid will be updated here several times weekly.

An Eagle Scout Helps to End the African Book Famine

Sixteen year-old Eagle Scout and book lover, Manvir Singh Bhagrath, shared his time, resources, and hard work with Books For Africa’s mission. In late August, Manvir called the BFA Atlanta warehouse to make sure employees would be there to receive his donations. Several hours later, the young man arrived to deliver a virtual vanload of books and school supplies.
