Partnership With The Giving Exchange Delivers For Students In Nairobi

Books For Africa recently partnered with The Giving Exchange to deliver over 20,000 books to 12 libraries in schools and orphanages in Nairobi, Kenya.  BFA is proud to partner with The Giving Exchange for this remarkable project, which will give Kenyan students the tools they need to succeed in school for years to come!

Books For Africa 30th Anniversary Cape Town Tour and Partner Meetings

In January 2018, a group of 23 Books For Africa supporters visited Cape Town, South Africa, with the purpose of raising funds in celebration of Books For Africa’s 30th Anniversary. The group raised over $27,000, which will provide more than 60,000 books to schools in South Africa.

Momentous Month Sees 40 Millionth Book Shipped, 52 Countries Served

In an unprecedented month of activity, Books For Africa has reached two major milestones!  First, the 40 millionth book donated to Africa left our Atlanta Warehouse.  Then, in quick succession, we saw our first ever containers depart to Mauritius, Seychelles, and Libya, bringing us ever closer to our goal of serving every country in Africa!  In pursuit of our mission to end the book famine in Africa, we aim to reach children and students that would not otherwise have an opportunity to hold a book in their hands.

Books For Africa 2017 Recipient Feedback Survey

2017 marks year two of Books For Africa's enhanced post-shipment survey.  This survey collects direct feedback from BFA recipients, allowing our team to assess where we have been most successful, and where there is room for improvement.  Last year's report brought great feedback and information, and we are proud to have 100% of respondents agree that the books received are relevant to their programs!

New Library in Wekin, Ethiopia Has Minnesota Roots

Minnesotans Wyn and Sunny Ray share a deep connection with Ethiopia; in 2008, they began working with the remote village of Wekin, Ethiopia. An immediate area of concern for the village was the school “library,” which contained only about 50 English books - in 2013, the Wekin Book Project was born to help put high-quality books and learning materials in the hands of the students and local community.
