Books For Africa recently worked with BetterWorld Trust to deliver a 40-foot container of supplementary books to Ghana Book Trust (GBT), to be distributed in Ghana. GBT worked with literacy NGOs such as Biblionef Ghana and Rotary Club to make sure the books reached the correct beneficiaries.

BFA partner Maktabas Inc. (Maktaba means "library" in Swahili) and Container Captain Louis Brownstone have been hard at work distributing books in Kenya over the past month!

Books For Africa Publishing, BFA's publishing initiative, has custom-printed 44,000 Somali-language books for shipment to Somalia! 11,000 copies of four children's titles have been printed in partnership with the Minnesota Humanities Center and will be distributed to young students across Somalia.

BFA Container Captains Abdullahi Mire and Louis Brownstone recently arrived in Kenya to distribute 22,000 books to the schools and children of the Dadaab refugee camps, some of the largest refugee housing complexes in the world. They worked with a vast network of professionals and community representatives, including Sahra Noor, the sister of Minnesota Representative Ilhan Omar, to distribute books to schools throughout the camps.

Books For Africa recently delivered a 40-foot container of assorted text and reference books to partner organization Bega kwa Bega (Shoulder to Shoulder), which works to promote education in Uganda. The books will be used by over 2,000 teachers and nearly 55,000 students!

BFA board member Lamin "Lang" Dibba recently traveled to The Gambia, where he was present for the arrival of the latest delivery under the Million Books for The Gambia project - a container of about 30,000 textbooks and library books.
