A BFA shipment of over 400 boxes of books recently arrived in Zambia!  In partnership with the Ministry of Education and Children in the Wilderness, the books were distributed to 22 schools around the Livingstone area.

Books For Africa recently completed a shipment of over 22,000 primary and secondary level books, with a total value of over a quarter million dollars, to the Bookmobile Project, in partnership with Kisii University in Kenya. The shipment consisted of primary and secondary level books that were distributed to over 70 schools in western Kenya.

Books For Africa was proud to recently host our Nigerian partner, Sir Emeka Offor, at our Atlanta warehouse, accompanied by the Nigerian Minister of Health. Sir Emeka and his team inspected 11 containers of books that we have staged for shipment to his facility in Nigeria in the few weeks!

Books For Africa was honored to receive the “Friend of the Community” award at the 8th African Awards Gala in October at Target Headquarters in Minneapolis. The award recognizes BFA’s work shipping over 46 million books, serving every country in Africa, while working in close partnership with African diaspora around the world.

Books For Africa is pleased to announce that 2019 was another record-setting year of shipping books, computers, e-readers and law libraries to 29 African countries!

Four canisters loaded with 30,000 copies of 10 different Barefoot Books titles in Portuguese, with a retail value of $6 million, are scheduled to arrive in Mozambique later this summer after being custom-printed in Hong Kong and shipped from its port. The books will be distributed to AIDS orphans and their caregivers. This shipment of 300,000 books is part of a new Books For Africa initiative in which the organization will begin publishing some books in local languages for charitable donation through a partnership with a publisher. Typically, BFA sends used book donations to countries in Africa in English, and occasionally French, Spanish, and Arabic.
