Books For Africa Publishing, BFA's publishing initiative, has custom-printed 44,000 Somali-language books for shipment to Somalia! 11,000 copies of four children's titles have been printed in partnership with the Minnesota Humanities Center and will be distributed to young students across Somalia. 

Books For Africa's hard-working Atlanta staff took time to talk with Tom Regan of WSB-TV Atlanta! Learn more about our origins and our mission to end the African book famine, and hear from members of our "volunteer army" about why volunteering at BFA is meaningful to them.

BFA Container Captains Abdullahi Mire and Louis Brownstone recently arrived in Kenya to distribute 22,000 books to the schools and children of the Dadaab refugee camps, some of the largest refugee housing complexes in the world. They worked with a vast network of professionals and community representatives, including Sahra Noor, the sister of Minnesota Representative Ilhan Omar, to distribute books to schools throughout the camps.

Books For Africa and Thomson Reuters recently celebrated the shipment of their 100th law library to the African continent at an event with distinguished guests from both organizations, and congratulatory letters from former Vice President Walter Mondale and Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison.

Abdullahi Mire's goal is to put a book in the hands of every child in the Dadaab Refugee Camps in Kenya. This December, in partnership with Books For Africa, he is providing 20,000 books to start a community library in the camps.
